How you hear about jobs

What happens when a local job fits you, and how you say yes or no.

There are two ways to get to a job on Lokals. You can apply to a job yourself, or we can ask you about one.

The candidate home page, where you choose if employers can find you

Turn on job alerts

On your home page, find Open to Work and tap Yes, let employers find me. If you turn Open to Work off, employers can't see you. Your profile stays saved.

Way 1: You apply

When you see a job ad or a job page from Lokals, tap I'm interested. That is your yes for that job. We may recommend you to the employer.

Way 2: We ask you

Sometimes a job fits your profile, but you didn't apply. Then we text and email you to ask if you want it. You see the employer, the role, the shift and where it is. Some employers keep their name private until the call.

The page where you answer I'm interested or No thanks

  • Tap I'm interested if you want to talk. This lets Lokals share your work profile with the employer.
  • Tap No thanks if you don't. Saying no is fine. It does not hurt your chances later.

When the employer wants to talk

You get a text and email with a link to book your 15-minute Pre-Interview. Pick a time that works for you. See Your Pre-Interview.

Pay is something you and the employer talk about on the call.

What the employer sees

At first, the employer sees your first name and the first letter of your last name, like "Jordan M." They also see your skills, the work you have done and what you are looking for. They do not see your current employer.

They only get your full name, phone and email when they want to talk with you, and only after you said yes to the job.

How often will I hear from you?

Only when a job fits what you told us. About once a month, we check in to see if anything changed. If nothing changed, it takes one tap.
